Bailey’s Lawyer Explains Background And Remorse In Case Involving Distressing Image Sharing, As Public Reacts With Shock
Bailey’s lawyer, Sarah Hamblett, explained that Bailey didn’t mean to cause serious harm and hadn’t thought about how much distress it would cause.
According to Hamblett, Bailey’s actions were not malicious, as Bailey and the woman were once close friends who had fallen apart.
Miss Hamblett explained that Bailey believed the woman was speaking negatively about her online, particularly on Snapchat and social media.
She emphasized that Bailey has shown remorse and now understands the seriousness of her actions.
Miss Hamblett also shared that Bailey had a complicated medical history.
At the age of four, Bailey contracted meningitis and septicemia, which put her in a coma for several days.
Her brain was deprived of oxygen, leading to complete deafness in her right ear and brain damage.
As a result of the brain damage, Bailey experiences anxiety, which makes it hard for her to be in more extensive social settings.
The lawyer explained that Bailey had been using alcohol to cope and feel more comfortable in social situations.
At the same time, Bailey admitted that she struggles with knowing when to stop, but she doesn’t see her alcohol consumption as an issue.
She also faces challenges with communication and thinking. While she has received messages from the complainant on TikTok, Bailey hasn’t responded.
Bailey has already started addressing her drinking. She now only drinks once every two weeks and only on one weekend day.
Her lawyer also mentioned that Bailey would be vulnerable in prison, as being in such an environment would increase her anxiety and make it harder for her to cope.
When sentencing Bailey, JP Frances Miller advised her to comply with all the conditions set by probation, warning her that failure could result in her being brought back to court.
Some people said they were shocked by the situation, describing it as “crazy.”
